Senior Pet Care
Senior pet care is preventive and supportive veterinary care for dogs and cats from about seven years of age onward. It is well known that pets age faster than humans, and as they grow older, their health care needs begin to change. At Uptown Veterinary Clinic, we consider dogs and cats to be seniors around the age of seven. At this stage of life, changes in activity level, nutrition, mobility, and behavior are common, but it can sometimes be difficult to tell what is normal aging and what may be a sign of an underlying medical issue.
Regular wellness visits play an important role in senior pet care. These checkups allow our veterinary team to monitor changes in your pet’s health over time and identify potential concerns early. Routine blood work and diagnostic testing can help detect age-related conditions before they become serious and also allow us to safely adjust medications or treatment plans when needed.
