SAME GREAT CLINIC WITH A NEW NAME
We're excited to let you know that City Pets Veterinary Clinic will now be called Uptown Veterinary Clinic! Recently we discovered that the name "City Pets" had been trademarked by another practice. Unfortunately, after consulting with legal professionals, we came to conclusion that our only option was to change our name.Rest assured that there are no changes in ownership, management, or day to day operations. Dr. Hui, Dr. Weinrick, and all of the staff here at City Pets/Uptown Vet Clinic remain dedicated to the care of your pets!

Coronavirus Policy *Updated 04/21/2022
First, thank you again to all our wonderful clients. You have all been so patient and kind as we all navigate this this continuously changing situation. We appreciate you very much!
We are currently allowing clients in the clinic with their pets but are still requiring that everyone wear a mask even if you are fully vaccinated. We do ask that you please continue to call or text when you arrive to assure we have a room ready for you and limit interaction with other clients in the front lobby. If you prefer to do a curbside appointment we are continuing to offer that service as well. Again, please call upon arrival regardless if you want to come in for your appointment or prefer curbside. We would also prefer to limit owners who come in the building to 1 or 2 people per pet.
All clients picking up medication or food, tech appointments such as nail trims and and lab work that does not require a doctor's exam remain curbside, for now. We will continue to update this policy as we want to keep everyone safe but we are also aware that people like to be with their pets during their visits.
We continue to ask you to reschedule your appointment and not come into the clinic if you fit the following criteria:
If you meet any of those, but feel your pet needs to be seen, we ask you to arrange for a friend or family member who does not meet any of the above criteria to bring your pet in. If this can't be arranged, please let us know when you schedule your appointment and we will work with you to ensure your pet is seen while protecting our staff from potential infection. After you schedule your appointment, you can read our article on What To Expect at Your Curbside Appointment. We also ask for all pets to be properly restrained with either a carrier or a leash to make the transition from your car to the clinic as safe as possible.
We will continue discussions with our staff to assess their level of comfort, monitoring COVID cases in Michigan, guidance from the AVMA and CDC, and other relevant points of data.
We do ask you to use good judgement when assessing whether your pet needs to be seen right away. We're trying to see everyone as quickly as possible, but with our current restrictions, it is not always possible to get pets in same day. While we never want to send people to the emergency hospital, our capacity for emergency appointments and care has been diminished. We'll try to triage each situation as much as possible and give the best advice for your pet on how to move forward.
Even though things are cautiously getting back to a new normal and some clients will be coming into the clinic, you can still take advantage of our online pharmacy. We understand the appeal, because if you're anything like us, shopping in our pajamas is ONE thing we are not willing to give up. Click on the button below to get started. If you have questions or trouble registering, please call the clinic at (734)929-4071.

To all of our rabbit owners,
Some of you may have heard of a contagious and deadly disease called Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHD) or Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease virus 2 (RHDV2). This virus is carried by both wild and domestic rabbits and can also be spread by insects. Even if your rabbit is kept strictly indoors they are still in danger of contracting this deadly disease. It’s important to keep your rabbit indoors but there are other things you can do to protect your precious bunny as this virus can cause death 3-5 days after exposure.
Wash your hands after handling rabbits
After contact with other rabbits, change your clothes and leave your shoes outside
Disinfect and objects that may be contaminated.
Quarantine any new rabbits for at least 30 days
Know your sources of hay, feed and greens.
Fortunately, there is a vaccine to protect your rabbit against this terrible disease. The vaccination is low risk and effective for the vast majority of rabbits.
We are in the process of determining if this is a vaccine our rabbit owners would be interested in. If so, we will work on getting this vaccine in clinic as soon as possible. The vaccine is a series of 2 shots given 3 weeks apart and we will be setting up scheduled blocks of time to administer the vaccines. If you are interested in more information and want to be contacted about vaccine times please reply with:
Your name, your pets name, your email and the best phone number to reach you .
